Job Summary
Under the direction of the Fuel Manager, the Fuel Technician performs daily fuel quality testing; fuels aircraft; fuels and offloads truck deliveries and performs minor servicing and repair work to fuel relation equipment. All tasks are performed to prescribed standards and in accordance with all company safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all tasks related to fueling aircraft and aircraft de-icing, ensuring daily fuel quality checks and applicable fueling standards, techniques and procedures are being adhered too.
- Perform tasks related to fueling and offloading Bulk truck deliveries.
- Ensure all safety policies, practices and procedures are adhered to during the performance of any tasks and duties.
- Prompt reporting of any defects found fuel department related equipment, office supplies and or materials inventory to Fuel Department Supervisor
- Perform departmental tasks and activities ensuring communication with Supervisor to ensure task coordination as it relates to operational efficiency and on-time performance, provide verbal or written service failure reports of as required.
- Perform assigned tasks related to fuel equipment upkeep, minor servicing, and repairs of allocated equipment.
- Foster a healthy working environment and promote a positive climate within the workplace.
- Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers.
- Any other related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous fuel handling experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift truck.
- Basic mathematical skills
- Excellent computer skills, MS-Office preferable, proficient in use of internet and email
- Able to work in a team environment, as well as unsupervised.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- The ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset.
- Previous airline experience is an asset.
- Experience with and/or knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset.
- Travel is required.
- Transportation to and from YPL (out of YQT) is provided, if needed.
- Food and Accommodations are provided (rotational work)
- Overtime as required.
- Weekend and evening work is required.

- May be exposed to loud noise, dust, fumes, and oils
- Ability to lift or move up to 50lbs. Repetitively.
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
